Base Rules
Game Version
The latest version in PS5, XBox, Steam.
If the timing of submission results in an out-of-date version, please select the correct version.
Language
Japanese, English, and Chinese versions are acceptable.
Quests
Prerequisites
- Hunting, Slaying Quests Only (Capture is not acceptable)
- Single Monster
- High Rank
- Optional Quest or Event Quest or Investigation Quest with these prerequisites
- Tempered Monsters (Includes Jin Dahaad) or Zoh Shia
- Max Strength of diamonds for each monsters
- Only 9-Star and 5-Strength Quests are allowed asof 2026-Nov.
Base Rule
The rules listed below for each category must be complied.
Any actions not explicitly prohibited are allowed.
Solo Play only
Solo play all the way through.
No Palico, No Support Hunter.
Seikret must meet all rules in the “Seikret” section.
Time
Top 5 records in each weapon will be accepted.
No maximum time limitations.
Items
The use of the following items are prohibited.
- Meat, All Trap Meats, All Bait Meats
- All kind of Smoke Bomb
- Traps (Shock, Pitfall)
- Barrel Bombs (Small, Large, Mega etc)
- Supply Items
You are free to gather items available in the field except for the restricted items and Slinger ammos
Slinger
- Shooting slinger ammos other than Dung Pod, Large Dung Pod, and Stones are prohibited.
- No Flash Pod, No Screamer Pod, and No other slinger ammos
- If you accidentally pick up something dropped by a monster and the slinger ammo is loaded, it will be considered unused if you reload it into a permitted slinger ammo while it is still unfired.
- Throwing Knife is allowed.
- Shooting dung pods and stones on the ground to bait monsters that have not found the hunter is allowed.
- Using Dung Pod, Stones, and the Hookslinger, you can perform preliminary activation of Endemic Life creatures and Gimmicks while monsters are in an undetected state, as described in “Field Gimmick and Endemic Life creature” section.
- Using the Luring Pod for luring monsters is only permitted for the purpose of preventing area change.
- Any intentional actions to lure monsters to gimmicks or other areas are prohibited.
- Using Wedge Beetle is permitted.
- Additionally, in some cases, using the slinger to activate gimmicks may be permitted for certain monsters. For more details, refer to the “Monster Exceptions” section.
Skills
The following skills are prohibited regardless of if they came into effect or not.
The following skills are permitted if they do not come into effect
The following skills have their own specific rules.
- Soul of the Dark Knight : Using the special action "Black Knight" is prohibited.
- The activation of Soul of the Dark Knight is allowed.
NG Equipments
These equipments are prohibited
- Armor, Decorations, and Charms which have the prohibited skills
- Possession of Mantles except for Gille Mantles.
Using sub-weapon is prohibited.
If you accidentally switch to your sub-weapon while riding Seikret, it will be acceptable if you switch back to your main weapon without attacking any monsters soon.
Talismans
There are no restrictions on Talismans, but for Talismans with theoretical skills/slots or similar properties, please be aware that we may request a screenshot of the Talismans appraisal screen.
Food Skills
The following food skills are prohibited.
If these skills are assigned as a random skill, please update it with getting food again.
Field Gimmick and Endemic Life creature
The following Gimmicks and Endemic Life creatures are prohibited.
- Sleep/Para Toads, Gread Thunder Bugs, Flashflies, Noios
- No environmental traps causing damage, immobilization, or status effect
- Vine Trap, Falling Boulders, Lump of Wyrmsbane etc
- Hiding (Spore puff, Grass etc)
- Wall jump attack
- Repetitive use of aerial attacks using ledges(e.g. Aerial GS)
- Intentional action of cancelling recoil or reload by using of ledges
If you triggered the following traps, bugs, or frogs by mistake, but have obviously not affected the target or another large monster, the record will be accepted.
The following are the samples.
- No status effect by toads.
- Sporepuff not causing the monster to lose sight of the hunter(turning purple)
- Monster’s eyes were not blinded by the flashflies.
Additionally, it is possible to pre-activate those gimmicks and endemic life creatures so that they do not affect monsters while they are still undetected.
- If damage is dealt to a monster or takes effect during pre-activation, that record will be declined.
- If the monster detects a hunter or be lured as a result of pre-activation, this is not an issue.
If you triggered the following gimmicks accidentally, it’s acceptable. But you cannot intentionally lure monsters to trigger their effects.
- Poison Cup
- Thorn Glass
- Fulgurite Thorn
The following Gimmicks and Endemic Life creatures are allowed.
- Vitalilies, Wiggly Litchi, Vigorwasp, Purewasp
- Vigormantle Bug, Chillmantle Bug, Heatmantle Bug
- Aerial attacks from places other than walls(e.g. ledges and inclines)
- Jumping from walls without attacking.
- Turf war, damages and status effects caused by other monsters. (it doesn’t matter whether small monsters or large monsters)
- Lava damage, Nitrotoad
Mounting Monsters
Mounting monsters and various actions derived are acceptable.
(e.g Knife attacks, Weapon attacks, Finishing)
However, if any of the above prohibited gimmicks or endemic life creatures activate while mounting and affect the monster, that record and video are not accepted.
Seikret
The following Seikret actions are permitted.
- Movement until engaging with a monster after starting a quest
- Movement when a monster moves to another area
- Both manual and auto movement are permitted for the above movements
- Using items while riding outside of monster engagements.
- (Hunting Horn) Stocking and playing melodies while riding outside of monster engagements.
- (Insect Glaive) Collecting essences while riding outside of monster engagements (from Ballels, Small Monsters, Large Monsters)
The following Seikret actions are prohibited.
- Weapon attack while riding on Seikret.
- Switching to a sub-weapon (see the “Prohibited Equipment” section above)
- Mounting while engaged with the Monster.
- Using items while riding in monster engagements.
- Jumping attacks from Seikret
- Collecting supplied items.
Camp and Pop-up Camp
- You can start quests from any base or camp.
- Fast travel to pop-up camps or map bases is possible.
- Entry into tents is prohibited.
- Setting up or repairing pop-up camps after starting a quest is prohibited.
- Refilling items and changing equipment is prohibited.
Others
- Buffs (Items, Hunting Hone, Palico) before starting a quest are prohibited.
- Exceptions: Demondrug/Armorskin (Including Moga type), Hot Drink, and Cool Drink are permitted even if their effects are active when starting a quest.
- If you start a quest with buffs other than the above exceptions still active, be sure to use buff items again before engaging monsters.
- The use of glitches is prohibited.
Cheating
- The use of any MODs or tools, including the appearance and visual modifications, are strictly prohibited.
If such use is detected, the user will be banned. - In cases of severe rule violations, cheating, or modifications, all records will be deleted, and the account will be banned.
- Known players using mods or cheating in the past are also banned.
- Regarding the use of MODs, users who are found to have used MODs on and after Sunbreak, which explicitly prohibits MODs in the TA wiki, will be excluded
- If you see mods, cheats, or anything against the rules, please reply or DM to X/Twitter(@mhwstawiki). Any report will be processed anonymously.
Monster Specific Rules
- Zoh Shia
- During the second form's special move (tentative name: “Nova”), it is possible to destroy crystals with Slinger pods to create a safe zone.
- During normal combat, destroying crystals with Slinger pods to deal damage is prohibited.
- Jin Dahaad
- In the third and fourth phases, when Jin Dahaad attacks by climbing onto buildings and continuously breathing fire, it is possible to destroy deteriorated buildings with a slinger and cause them to collapse. (In this case only, dealing damage is permitted.)
- In the third phase or later, when Jin Dahaad takes attacking action that targets the entire area, you can create a safe zone by using the slinger shot to drop an ice wall.
- Taking damage to Jin Dahaad by dropping an ice wall is prohibited.
- Arkveld
- In the quest “The Chains of Life”, if Arkveld moves to the back of the area and falls down when the cliff collapses, it will also be counted.
- Lagiacrus
- For survey quests, only quests at Ruins of Wyveria is allowed
- This is because underwater hunting does not occur.
How to Post
Video
- Youtube videos are only accepted.
- Please post the video after making it public.
- Language settings: Japanese, English, Chinese
- Please include the time from the start of the quest to the clear quest screen in the video. No fast-forwarding, cutting, or other editing.
- We will decide on frame skipping on a case-by-case basis.
- For investigation quests, please include the quest acceptance screen in the video to confirm the strength of the individual.
- The number of participants screen is optional.
- Do not cover any parts of the video that would make the screen unrecognizable.
- Display the status skills and meal skills after completing the quest.
- Open the equipment list menu and display each screen for 1-2 seconds.
- If the video is not cut, each skill can be displayed after returning from the quest.
- Please also display the Talisman skill/slot screen.
HUD
- In the HUD, everything must be displayed except for the following.
- Operation guide
- Guide bug announcements
- Damage display is mandatory.
- Decimal places are optional.
